The time for Maghrib prayers is defined by His Eminence Ayatullah Syed Sistani (HA) and all our Maraje when the redness rays of the setting sun, passes from overhead. This is determined primarily by observations. Our contemporary Maraje have varied in their estimation between 13 to 22 minutes after the sun has set. In the absence of observations and records of the same and on the advice of scholars, we have taken a precautionary measure to keep this lag at 15 minutes after sunset. Therefore, you will notice the time of Maghrib is 5 minutes later than previously published. This update has been reflected on the website, Hujjat calendar and UK Shia Salaat Times app.
