Alhaj Shabbirbhai Mamdani was born in Bukoba, Tanzania, where he completed his early education. He went to Kampala, Uganda to finish his secondary education. Before he could sit his ‘O’ levels in Kampala, the Asians in Uganda were expelled and he personally encountered a harrowing experience as he was leaving Uganda. He moved to Mombasa, Kenya where he completed his ‘O’ levels and ‘A’ levels before coming to UK to pursue Accountancy. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1984 and later on set up his accountancy practice Adams Moor house which he is at today.

A founder member, the first Treasurer and member of the constitution team for JIBA and JIBA (Europe), he became the vice president of London Jamaat in 2003 and held that position for 4 years. After a few years away from Jamaat politics, he returned to London Jamaat as president in 2012. He writes in his CV “ since the end of his term in 2013, he stayed away from Jamaat politics concentrating more on secular politics and UK’s Conservative Party. He is currently the treasurer of Ruislip, Pinner and Northwood Conservative Association, a post I have held for the last 5 years.”
