Dear Respected Community Members,

It is with deep sorrow that The KSIMC of London (Hujjat) extends its heartfelt condolences to the Imam of our Time (may Allah hasten his reappearance), to our marāji’ and scholars, and to the entire Muslim Ummah on the passing of Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Musa Shubayri Zanjani (may Allah sanctify his soul).

In him, the Ummah has lost one of its most senior marājiʿ — a scholar who gave nearly a century of his life to the service of Islam, the Ahlulbayt (peace be upon them), and the Muslims. His passing leaves a void that is felt deeply across the world.

We offer our condolences to his honoured family, his students, and to all those who loved him and benefited from his guidance. He had a tremendous impact on contemporary scholarship within the Shi’i seminary, especially in the science of ḥadīth and rijāl (the science of narrators), where his grading and authentication of the chain of narrators is relied upon in many scholarly circles. He wrote several volumes of jurisprudential works including in the areas of Hajj, marriage, and contractual law.

Those who have been blessed with the ziyārah of the Holy Shrine of Lady Ma’suma in Qom may have prayed behind him during Fajr, Maghrib, and Ishā’.

We ask the community to remember him in your prayers and to recite Surat al-Fatiha for the elevation of his soul.

May Allah (swt) grant him His infinite mercy, elevate his station, and reunite him with the Ahlulbayt (peace be upon them).
