Asif Karim was born in Mombasa. His Marhum Father, Yusuf Karim, was a well known national sports personality in Kenya with number of achievements to his name, particularly in Cricket and Tennis. In his sporting footsteps, Asif walked on his father’s footsteps and took his achievements to international level and famously performed his best performance in 2003 World Cup Match against World Champions, Australia, in South . For this performance, he was awarded “ Man of the match award “. After his retirement from active sports, he went on to produced a documentary and a Coffee Table Book on his family’s sporting achievements titled – “The Karims – A sporting Dynasty”.

He subsequently went on to become the chairman of Kenya International Sports Film Festival, contributing his time and effort to the development of sport in Kenya. He also served as the chairman of Shia Ithna-Asheri Community of Nairobi from 2009 to 2013 during which time he launched many projects including the housing project at Lavington. He runs a leading insurance brokerage company in Kenya – Aristocrats Insurance Brokers Ltd – with a number of achievements and awards in the field of Insurance. He is a member of the Insurance Advisory Board to the Government of Kenya as well as an Accredited Mediator.
