The Electoral Commission Team is pleased to update the community on the forthcoming Election.

Following the closing of nominations, the Electoral Commission Team has checked the nominations received against the Constitution and the Rules including the eligibility of each candidate, proposer and seconder, and the requirement that nominations for President to carry at least five seconders.

We are pleased to confirm that all nominations received are in order and valid. All candidates are also subject to satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks, in line with the Jamaat’s safeguarding responsibilities.

Next steps and timeline

Under the Rules, the Electoral Commission is required to circulate the names, CVs and manifestos of all candidates to the members at least 7 clear days before the date of the Election. As the Election falls on Sunday 5 July 2026, this information will be released to the community within that period, and the candidates’ CVs and manifestos will be made available in due course, including on the Jamaat’s website.

As there are two candidates for the office of President, the Rules require hustings to be held, giving each Presidential candidate an equal opportunity to introduce themselves and respond to questions, to take place at least one day before the Election. Details of the hustings will be communicated to members in due course.

Voting

Voting will take place in person on Sunday 5 July 2026, between 10.30 A.M and 7.30 P.M. at Hujjat, Stanmore. We encourage all eligible members to attend and exercise their vote.
