AHY #30K Challenge for WF-AID Ramadhan Relief

In: Al Haadi Hujjat Youth, Home Page, Hujjat

Al Haadi Hujjat Youth are running their #30K challenge for WF-AID’s Ramadan Relief appeal, which provides essential food packs to families living in poverty in over 20 countries around the world

During the Holy month of Ramadan, WF-AID aims to tackle starvation within some of the most heavily-deprived parts of Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. We are working with our partners in over 20 countries, including Kenya, Iraq, Yemen, Palestine, and the United Kingdom. This year, with the onset of the Coronavirus, families who would normally go to community iftars no longer have that option.

Food prices are rising and supply has reduced, making an already difficult task to buy food for the month even harder. The food packs you fund give families a rare opportunity to receive essential nutrition, which they rely on for the strength they need to source water and shelter.

Each individual Food Pack costs just £55 and can feed a family of five for an entire month.

Al Haadi Hujjat Youth, as part of Hujjat are striving to support WF-AID in their pledge to support the campaign to which the aim is to raise £30,000.00 for Hujjat Ramadhan Relief Fund.

AGM/Election Postponement

POSTPONEMENT OF AGM AND ELECTIONS DUE TO CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC

27 April 2020

Dear Members,

Salaamun Alaykum

I pray this finds you well InshAllah.

In accordance with our Constitution we were expecting to hold our Annual General Meeting (AGM) in June and elections in May this year. However, in light of the coronavirus pandemic and based on current government health guidance, it is increasingly unlikely that these key events can proceed at such time in the manner prescribed by our Constitution.

Following discussion with our external charity lawyers and taking into account guidance provided by the Charity Commission, the EC wishes to inform you of the following decisions with respect to the AGM and elections:

• AGM expected to take place in June is postponed to 1 November 2020
• Elections expected to take place in May are postponed to 18 October 2020

Consequently, the current EC will stay in place until the postponed AGM.

The EC considered various other options prior to reaching the decision to postpone these key events – including holding the AGM and elections through electronic means. However, as it is currently expected that we will not need to postpone these events for more than a few months, and with the aim of keeping to the spirit of our Constitution, the legal advice is that postponement is a better option for our charity at this time.

The EC will revisit the AGM and election decisions (set out above) periodically – taking into account, in particular, current government and Charity Commission guidance. Should it become necessary to alter the arrangements (set out above) we will inform members accordingly.

With Salaams and Duas
