Hilal Statement: Muharram 1431AHIn: Uncategorized
TAIA (Team for Advice on Issues of Astronomy) of KSIMC of London has deliberated on crescent visibility for Muharram 1431AH. After contacting expert astronomers from within and outside the community, they have not achieved reasonable certainty that the crescent would be seen in London on Thursday 17th December 2009.
The EC of KSIMC of London, after receiving these guidelines has decided that in the absence of any reported sighting of the crescent on Thursday 17th December 2009, we will complete 30 days of Dhul Hijjah and the 1st eve of Muharram 1431AH will InshAllah be on Friday 18th December 2009. Mu’mineen are requested to attempt a sighting on Thursday 17th December 2009 and report to the Hujjat Office any positive sightings.
The data below has been obtained from the HM Nautical Almanac Office and lists the visibility parameters of the crescent for Thursday 17th and Friday 18th December 2009.
