Hujjat Task Force Announcement

In: Home Page, Hujjat, Information, Latest News, News

Salam Alaykum

As many of you will already be aware, echoing the national picture, there has been a rise in positive cases of COVID-19 in our Community – 30+ at the last count. We request all members to be extra vigilant and to try to avoid contact with fellow community members outside your households/bubbles. This includes holding or attending Majalis at each other’s houses.

The jamaat in consultation with the Task Force has taken the additional protective step to announce a suspension of all face to face jamaat and BUJU activities (eg SJ sports) for a period of 2 weeks starting from Tuesday 8th September 2020.

This is a decision that is not taken lightly but is prudent in order to protect the community and contain the situation.

If you have come in contact with someone who tested positive, please ensure you maintain the self-isolation guidelines from the NHS. You will need to self-isolate for 14 days. You do not need to get a test done in this situation unless you develop symptoms:
https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/self-isolation-and-treatment/when-to-self-isolate-and-what-to-do/

If you are experiencing symptoms please ensure you get a test done:
https://www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test

Further information on test results can be found from the following link:
https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/testing-and-tracing/what-your-test-result-means/

For those who have tested positive, please ensure:

  • You inform those who you have recently been in close contact with to protect them
  • You inform your GP accordingly

With thanks and duas for your continued support and understanding.

Guidance from Hujjat Covid-19 Taskforce for holding Muharram commemoration ceremonies at home

In: Home Page, Hujjat, Information, Latest News, News

Further to the jamaat’s joint statement dated 9th July 2020, we confirm that all of our forthcoming Muharram programmes will be conducted online only. The remote delivery of programmes was well received over the month of Ramadan so this will hopefully provide mu’mineen with an opportunity to engage fulfillingly with azadari and safely.

The office of Grand Ayatollah Sistani has also confirmed the prioritisation of not endangering each others health during mourning ceremonies and abiding by relevant national guidance.

We understand that community members may wish to engage with our programmes in small groups as allowed within the constraints of government guidelines.

We have curated the relevant parts of the government’s “Coronavirus outbreak FAQs: what you can and can’t do” here to help guide those organising such mini gatherings:

– You should only be socialising in groups of up to two households (including your support bubble) indoors and outdoors or up to six people from different households when outdoors.

– It is against the law to breach the above guidance and this includes gatherings from more than 2 households or more than 6 people from different households when outdoors. Larger gatherings – whether under 30 or more than 30 people – that fit under these criteria, are therefore not allowed

– The following principles should be observed to ensure you meet people in a way that minimises the risk of spreading infection:

> limit the time you spend interacting with people from outside your household or support bubble to the activity which you are partaking in

> limit the number of different activities which you partake in succession to reduce the potential chain of transmission

> follow strict social distancing guidelines from people outside your household or support bubble

(https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/coronavirus-outbreak-faqs-what-you-can-and-cant-do/coronavirus-outbreak-faqs-what-you-can-and-cant-do#social-contact-and-events)

We appreciate and value your ongoing support and cooperation.

Let us pray to Allah SWT with the wasila of our Ahlul Bayt to protect us as the azadar of Imam Hussain AS from this disease, to grant shifa-e-kamila to all those who have been affected and maghfira to those who have lost their lives in this pandemic

The Centre offers core subjects (Maths, English and Science for GCSE and Maths, Chemistry and Biology for A & AS Level).  New this year we are offering 11+ exam preparation.

The aim of the Centre is to provide high quality, focused tuition to help pupils gain confidence and self-esteem and reach their potential. In addition to helping pupils overcome their difficulties, we will also focus on developing good study technique to maximise performance.

The Centre strives to find ways to increase numbers as well as well as providing more subjects for students to subscribe to, to maintain continuity of the organisation over these changing times when families find themselves with new financial constraints.

A and AS pupils will be encouraged to bring in their own laptops to aid them in the classes.

Hujjat Bookshop

In: Information

We are now beginning to receive enquiries from other Jamaats and non-members, that is inducing us to go online and supply the books/CDs/DVDs via our website.

With the help of very knowledgeable volunteers, we have established separate shelf areas for titles on The Qur’an, The Prophet & Imams, Du’a, Ziyarats, Children, etc.

The popularity of the bookshop has been such that not only we have we discovered hidden readership but also hidden authors/writers within the community, both here in Stanmore and other Jamaats. We have received many books written by our Jamaat members and also from community members in Dubai, Tanzania and USA.

This is a very important aspect of our community, that we understand the history of Shia Islam and interpret it for others.

With so much interest, expansion is the next phase, and for that we have requested the EC for an additional portacabin, so that we may increase the subjects, as well as create space for browsing the many wonderful books that give us so much joy and understanding of our faith.

To read & understand is knowledge
Anything else is ignorance.

We pray for an ever more enlightenment.
