We regret to inform you of the sad demise of Marhum Sardar Habib Rehemtullah who passed away in London today.

Marhum was the father of Muslim Rehemtullah.

Namz-e-Mayyit will be offered at 3pm and burial will be at Northwood cemetery.

The EC have been considering a project regarding the EQ.IQ Primary School.
 
While the EC are in favour of the concept of a primary school in principle, it has been decided:
 
1. Not to proceed with this school on our premises in Sep 2011.
 
2. Such a school should happen, only after a consultation process with the public, to take place at some point in the future, in line with EC priorities.
 
Our thanks to all, who have assisted us with the due diligence that we have carried out to date.

As the month of Mahe-Mubarak Ramadhan draws near, those boys between the ages of 7 and 16 who are interested in reciting Dua Iftetah in the Main Hall or ELC, are requested to attend an audition session on Sunday 17 July at 10.30AM in the Annexe.

The audition will be conducted by the Mukhi sub-committee and those who are capable to recite will be chosen accordingly.

The next new moon conjunction occurs on 1st July, 2011 at 08:54 GMT
We would urge all Mumineen to scout for the new crescent on Saturday 2nd July and should you observe the crescent, please call the Jamaat office to help us record your observation. Details we will need include the location, the direction, the shape, the timings etc of your observation.
A final announcement for the 1st of Sha’baan, 1432, will be made on Saturday 2nd July at around 11pm

The longest total lunar eclipse since July 2000 will occur on Wednesday June 15, 2011
As the moon rises above the south-eastern horizon shortly after 21:00 BST it will be fully eclipsed by the Shadow of the Earth in space. It may be difficult to see as it will probably be quite dark.

The eclipse will last for around another hour and it will get easier to see as it gains altitude. By 22:00 BST the Moon will be passing out from the Earth's shadow and by 22:30 BST will appear quite strange as half of it will still be eclipsed and the other half will seem much brighter. It will all be over by just after 23:00 BST

Total lunar eclipses occur when the Earth passes directly between the sun and the moon, casting a deep shadow through which the moon then travels through. From the Earth, the moon will appear to darken and turn a deep red before eventually returning to normal.

Salaatul Ayaat recommended to be recited between 21:30 and 22:00 BST (British Summer Time).

On behalf of our President Al-Haj Kakaji and the EC Team, we congratulate Tahera Bai Kassam on her victory, following the recent Chair lady elections. Our commiserations to Anar Bai Mawji, who very graciously accepted the result - she led a hard fought campaign and we congratulate her efforts.

We also commend the hundreds of you who showed up to cast your votes and decide on your leader for the next two years inshAllah.

However the time and place for campaigns and spirited contest has passed. It is now time to put aside personal disagreements and abandon the politics of divisiveness and instead focus on the core issues that matter most to our community. We trust therefore that you will all offer Tahera Bai Kassam and her new team, your unequivocal support so that she and her team are able to fulfil all of their promises to you - inshAllah.

We look forward to welcoming Tahera Bai Kassam and one other female representative onto the main EC, as well as working alongside all of you, in line with our pledge of being inclusive of "women" in the running of our community - inshAllah.
