LONDON JAMAAT STANDS SHOULDER TO SHOULDER WITH DAR ES SALAAM JAMAAT IN FACE OF CALAMITY
Yesterday morning (29th March 2013) a calamity was unleashed on our sister Jamaat in Dar es Salaam. A multi-story building adjacent to our centre in Dar es Salaam collapsed shedding its rubble on to our centre where numerous youngsters of the community were busy playing.
Immediately upon receiving the news, our President telephoned the President of Dar es Salaam Jamaat, who provided an update on the situation. At that time, several of our youngsters had been rescued and after a brief stay at the hospital had been released. No fatalities were known at that time, which was a great relief.
Prayers were offered after Juma prayers at Stanmore for the wellbeing of our brothers in Dar es Salaam, and for a successful rescue operation.
We have subsequently learned of some deaths, which is heart breaking. We continue to monitor the situation through media.
We have sent a message of condolence and of help to our brothers in Dar es Salaam.
The email is reproduced below:
Dear Shiraz Bhai
It is with considerable anguish that I write to express our deepest condolences on the calamity that has befallen the Dar es Salaam Jamaat.
When we spoke briefly on the telephone yesterday, you had stated that your volunteers had rescued several youngsters and at that stage you were not aware of any fatalities. This was a great relief to us all. I now understand from media that our community has not been spared the fatalities, which is heart breaking.
On behalf of the London Jamaat, I would like to assure you that we stand shoulder to shoulder with you during this difficult time. Please do not hesitate to call upon us should you require any help.
Please convey our condolences to your members and to the friends and families of the departed souls. May Allah SWT rest the departed souls amongst his chosen ones. Ameen.
And may you be successful, by the grace of Allah SWT, in all your efforts to rescue the trapped momineens. Ameen.
