New Constitution

Dear Members, Salaamun Alaykum

The current constitution of the KSIMC of London was last studied in 1992. Since then the community has grown and times have moved forward.

It is our contention that we need to revisit our constitution and allow for some major and fundamental changes to be incorporated into it.

The current EC entrusted this to a special team of our community members and also engaged the services of a professional legal firm to help review our current as well as proposed constitution.

Our biggest challenge is to have a balance between the regulations of the Charities Commission of UK as well as abide by our Islamic Sharia guidelines in what we do.

The team has prepared a draft proposed revised constitution that would need feedback and opinions from wide sections of the community.

Our first consultation had been with past leaders of the community and we are scheduled to have consultations with the youths, ladies and the general public members of the community.

As we progress with our consultations, please find a draft copy that can be downloaded by clicking here.

We would like to receive your comments on the proposed revised constitution so that we are synchronised in our thoughts and vision by the time we have our Constitutional Conference to adopt this new constitution.

To save time on the day of the conference, we would appreciate your feedback in advance. Please write to us on This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it with any comments/opinions/suggestions you may have or you may contact our EC member spearheading this task, Dr Munir Datoo.

YDD (Youth Dua Drive) 2014

Aims & Objectives:
YDD enters its 7th year and with the blessings of the Almighty, is moving from strength to strength. It is however important that the aims and objectives of YDD are made transparent for all so that we can work together for the betterment of our children and youth.

YDD has been set up to act as a “refresher programme” for our youngsters particularly in the recitation of Dua’s commonly recited during the Holy Month of Ramadhan. The emphasis is to polish, brush-up and enhance the level of recitation of Dua’s.

Entry Criteria:
To allow YDD to meet its objective, it is important that those attending are able to recite “big” Qur’an with some degree of fluency. Your child may be required to be pre-screened upon registration to ensure they meet the above criteria. We appreciate that there may be children who fall short of the above requirement, but at this stage, due to limited resources at our disposal, we can only accept children who demonstrate the above criteria.

As far as age criteria goes, provided the above criteria is first met, we will accept children between the ages 7 to 16

Dua classes:
YDD will cater for recitation of the following Dua’s: 3 Short Dua’s (recited after Maghrib/Eisha Salaat) and Dua Iftetah. Please note: there will be no classes for Dua Jawshan Kabeer.

Classes will commence on Thursday 24th April 2014.

Main Hall / ELC allocation:
A child wishing to recite one of the Dua’s taught within YDD will need to be screened by the YDD teachers before their name is submitted to the Mukhi sub-committee for allocation. (This applies to both boys and girls)
